57 brake question
Im trying to get some brake fluid in a hudson I just bought. there dosent appear to be a knockout in the floor, I can syphon fluid in through a hose but it seems a little difficult, is there another way to get fluid in the master. Has anyone put a remote resivour on a hudson?? This car is all origional never restored. You have identified the engine as the 327, what transmission does this car have? Im pulling it out of the storage lot this weekend I will post some pictures next week
Thanks

Charlie Harris in Nebraska made up a remote fill for the stepdown master cylinder. I don't know if it works on a Hash.0

I modified a turkey baster (attached a short hose) and squirted the fluid in. It seemed like a better idea than tearing up my rubber mat even more than it is.0

There is a round plate in the floor that comes out to fill it.0

Since Hudson when with the suspended brake pedal in 54, this car should have the master cylinder on the firewall. But then again, a 57 Hudson was really a Nash so maybe not.0

Good point Paul ! Why do we always hear people complaining about AMC tring to make two car lines out of one basic shell? Give the small guy a break! GM, Ford and Chrysler have done it for years and no complaints. Take the worshiped GM 350 engine- what's the difference between Chevy,Pontiac, Buick,Oldsmoble and Cadillac ? They all use the same engine, with minor modifications.0 -
My father in 1958 purchased a new Hudson Rambler, we never did call it a Hudson always a Rambler even though both names were clearly on the vehicle. At that time it cost him 2,500.00 pound, a lot of money in those days.
At the time he could have purchased one of the last Hudsons on the show room floor, but opted for the newly released Hudson Rambler instead. Which he drove till he purchased a new 1967 Rambler American, I purchased the '58 Rambler off him and drove it for another 10 years.
