Does anyone know what the thickness is supposed to be ?? Also how far can it be planed before it is no good. A Friend told me 2" and then it is unuseable. Hope he is mistaken !!
Best Regards, Paul

My understanding is that the stock thickness is 2", so if yours is that, you are okay. The alloy heads are higher compression, with a lower portion over the exhaust valve, so you will have to ascertain the valve lift and the room you have left to decide how much to plane it. It is best for reliability to just skim enough off to true the surface up. Good luck,

Geoff is right . Anything under 2 inches and you are heading into trouble. Keep in mind that you will need to use a COPPER gasket with this head or coat the existing gasket very heavily with a non stick sealant. Otherwise you will have trouble with this head.0
