Yes it worked for me. It come up in adobe reader and i have saved it for future referance.
  • you will need adobe reader. if that doesnt link directly click this http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/news/article.php?storyid=117 then follow that last link to the pdf file
  • For those having trouble with the first link, the PackardInfo website doesnt support direct linking to the resources. You have to go in through the article page for that content (the last link provided). This is to prevent other websites from direct linking the content as their own and using up the PackardInfo bandwidth.

Most of the resources are scans of large manuals and other original documents from the Packard Motor Car Corporation. As such some of the PDFs could be over 20megs in size. Some browsers have problems viewing these large files over the web if you have a slow connection. So if you go to the Article page and right click on the link and do a "Save As" it will download the PDF to your PC and then you can open it up just fine. Those instructions are also on the bottom of every Article page.

I hope this helps anyone having problems accessing the information.

Kev, I got the manual downoaded OK, but it's apparently got a "read only" permision level. How can I print it for easier reference "on the bench" ?
  • I agee with Park...

Tired to view on line... have T1 line and no go, downloaded and the problem is the document has NOT ALLOWED selected for all aspects of document use. There is a watermark imposed on each page. Adding a watermark after a page is scanned blocks the viewing of the text on the page. The security settings and the watermark have blocked viewing and printing of this document.

You can download four OD manuals and a repair tips sheet at this URL... not locked and quick down load for saving and printing.

  • Sorry, I must have forgot to Check Allow printing when I secured the manual. I have fixed it now and re-uploaded to the website and you should be able to print it now if you redownload it.

The reason the content is secured and watermarked is to prevent people from downloading the content, burning it to CD and selling in on Ebay to make a quick buck. All of the content of the website has been donated from people all over the country and are scans of original documents. Some of this stuff has never been reproduced. So this makes it very temping for people that want to flip it out on ebay. That goes against the free nature of the website and the reason the content was donated in the first place.

All of the content can be printed to your own printer and the watermark is at 10% transparency so that it should not affect the readability of the document in any way. No one else has complained this is a problem.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

Thanks for the quick correction, Kev ... I've now got it with printing enabled. I know this info is in the Hudson shop manuals, but it's good to have it straight from the manufacturer!
