I has looking at the Wipedia site under Hudson Hornet. I saw an interesting update added to their description of the Hudson Hornet. It states in the Hudson Hornet trivia section that the movie cars has helped raised values on e-bay. Below is the excerpt.

The 2006 film, Cars, starring the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Larry the Cable Guy and directed by John Lasseter is about a race-car who thinks the world revolves around him finding himself stuck in the Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. Paul Newman provides the voice of a Hornet named Doc Hudson who has a mysterious past. Subsequently, the price of Hornets on sites like eBay have risen considerably

Not too many of us here are surprised.... Niels

  • The rich get richer, and raise the Hornet ownership threshhold for us poor folk.

Kidding of course, but there's a winner and a loser in value changes. As a marque though, I think any value increase is good overall. Let's just try not to get snotty about it... if I wanted to deal with those folks, I would have bought a Packard.

These cars are finally getting the recognition they deserve from the general public. The days of $300 - $500 Hornets (and Hudson's in general) are long gone but most of these cars are in the hands of members that bought them years ago for dirt cheap. I'm sure they are happy at the appreciation- they should be. After investing in five Hudsons, I'm happy too.
