Commodore Coupe on ebay

Comments

  • Just when you think all the old cars have been discovered, more pop up on ebay. It's wonderful.
  • this one looks decent...
  • As the supply dewindles on these cars, all you see available nowadays are restored cars or projects / junkers. All the drivers are spoken for. Its nice to see these pop up now and then.

Chances are good of the frame being solid on this one.
  • Last year, I saw info on the Web about an auction for a gold 1950 Commodore 4dr. It was part of the original owner's estate. From photos, it looked spotless. I believe it may have been located in the mid-west. Did anyone else catch that?

Even has Supermatic! Would be a nice restore, not a lot of these around.
  • It's rather nice to see someone to honestly advertise a car without telling use how rare it is and what the are going to do to it if someone doesnt not buy it at his inflated price. If this car was closer even I would jump on it. I have always thought that the 48/50 COMMODORE 8'S were pure tits. But of course I am partial to 8's anyway.

I agree Tombia, little too far away for me, but I would love to have a 2dr Commodore 8 to go with my sedan!
  • Dan. Did you ever meet Milton Birch of Ocean City Md.? He had a beautiful black 50 Commodore 8 sedan

Yep it is a Supermatic. The Supermatic tries to work but needs a major going over. This is only the second time I have posted this picture and it has been on the road only since Sept, so the pictures you have are probably not mine. It has 35,6xx original miles on it. It sat for over 40 years, still has a Gulf Station service sticker on the door jam from 1964, and 1965 NJ inspection sticker. However, it needed a lot of going over and an engine rebuild due to a burnt #8 piston and valve. I am the second owner! It is a hoot to drive.
  • That car is what I have always thought of when I have heard Hudson mentioned. Beautiful. Milton Birch owned a hotel in Ocean City, Died maybe 20 or so years ago. He had a black Cummodore 8 sedan, I had a Hudson meet at my farm in Mitchelville Md. in 1968. He drove over from OC and told the story about blowing the doors of a Cadillac top end on the way over, Real nice fellow, Loved Hudsons.

Unless they were racing on a winding road or the Cadillac was in a state of advanced disrepair, I'd take that brag with a big dose of salt.

yeah, unless it was like a cimarron or something, I kind of have to wonder about that. As much as I like my hudson, that's a pretty tough one to believe.

I had a kind in his parent's honda accord 4 door try to race my hudson a while back, even with the twin H, he got me at the upper end. I had himoff the line and in thru second, but the old flatthead didn't have top end enough to finish th deal. the guy behind me thought it was the best thing he ever saw, even getting out at the next light congratulating me, and telling the honda kid that he suks. :D

The first new car I had ever driven (but unfortunately didn't own) was a 1970 Cadillac. That car had so much low end torque, it could dig holes in the pavement. Even at higher speeds, the engine in that yacht just kept pulling, with no end in sight. Not until anti-pollution regulations choked off horsepower could anything in stock dress beat a Cadillac. In the early 70's, I had Cadillacs blow the doors off of my 428 CJ 1970 Mach 1.

As far as the squid (squirrly kid) in the rice burner, he didn't have 2 tons of overbuilt/over engineered Detroit iron to haul around. Heck Hkid, you alone probably weight half as much as his car. :D Although our Hudsons may not be the fastest things on the road, they're much cooler than just about anything and should we be involved in an accident, at least we'll live. Can't say as much for the squids in the Japanese tin cans.
  • I did my best to knock the corks out of the clutch, again.

I think it took the kid by surprise.
  • You will have to remember that it was 39 years ago and Milton was known for having a drink or 2. So who knows?. It was a good story.
  • i don't recall seeing a year for that caddy. the title for my hornets say they 3600 lbs.(i would have to say that's fairly light compared to other cars of that era) the title on my 54 fleetwood says 6100 lbs. and the 331 v8 is not near powerful as i think it should be. i haven't got to drive my twin-H yet but the weight difference says a lot!

2004 Honda Accord weighs 3390lbs - almost as much as a stepdown. If it was a 4 banger - 160HP. Seems like a fair match with the Hudson.
