my 55 308 came with an oil filter but all of the plumbing was long gone and i cant find any reference of it in the manuals. just where do i tap into for supply and return? as i understand it the bottom port is supply to the filter itself and the side port is the return but where do i run these lines to on the block? what diameter lines do i need? steel flared or otherwise? thankyou- stuart

  • On my 54 with a Fram canister unit the inlet is in the side return in bottom. For the inlet there is a pipe plug just above the pressure regulator, use a 90 degree fitting. For the return is just below the pressure regulator. Pressure regulator is large bolt inch plus low on block in front of starter. Lou Cote
  • thankyou lou
  • Look at third jpeg in "262 running and ready for installation" on this forum. Shows installed canister and oil lines pretty clearly.

Both of these ports on the block are 1/8 NPT Pipe thread.
