Exhaust Clamp recommendation

Not sure if anyone else has been using these, but I have started to put them on all my exhaust systems as I have replaced them. I used them on my '50C8 this year and they work great. These are stainless steel band type clamps. These do not crimp your pipes and allow adjustment if you have knocks after you think you have everything set just right! They also are a lot easier to get off if you need to replace any of the pipes:

they also are available at NAPA

One note: you need to really crank down on them to deform the stainless sheet to seal the joint!

  • Interesting in theory, but the purpose of exhaust clamps IS to crimp the components together. That way, they don't work loose and fall off. To me, these appear very similar to a plumbing pipe repair clamp, minus the rubber gasket. Maybe if we have a plumber on the forum, he or she can comment.

Well, all I can say is that I have had them on my Jeep Truck for 4 years and no problems at all. They clamp hard and fast with no leaks, and have not worked loose or fallen off. I believe that Edelbrock also recommends them with their custom exhaust systems.

As long as you are pleased with the results, that's all that matters. Just making an observation. :)
