Arkansas Chapter

Just thought I'd let you know, there is an Arkansas Chapter. Bill Hinde is the President, Bill Verwolf the Vice-President, and basically, Norma Hinegardner does everything else.(ha) If the name Hinegardner sounds familiar, it's because she's the Widow of Kelly(Terraplane Kelly) Hinegardner. Those of us that have been on the Hudson Forum for a while, remember the cross-country excapades of Kelly and Aunt Hester!(ha) Kelly moved to Alma,Ar. and was in the process of establishing the Arkansas Chapter when he passed. Norma has carried on Kelly's wish, and has been instrumental in getting this Chapter off the ground. We have also received lots of help from the Texas and Louisiana folks. Our last meet(Fall Colours Tour) was back in October, in Hot Springs, and Mr. Bruce Gold's '49, out of Baton Rouge, was voted "People's Choice". I attached a picture, which still doesn't do the car justice. The Hotel we had was located on Lake Hamilton, and had a boat ramp, and docks for about 20 boats, on one end of the parking lot. I talked to Mr. Verwolf, about maybe combining the Chapter's meet, with something else. Other than the Hudson Club, I'm also a member of the Classic Glastron Owners Club, and thought it might be interesting to hold a Hudson/Glastron meet together. Nothing like old cars, and old boats! I also attached a picture of my 30 yr. old boat. The cars could tour around town, and the boats could have a "Boat Parade" on the lake. This is just in the "idea" phase, but everything is on the table. I volunteered to be the "SpokesPerson" for the Arkansas Chapter on this Forum. In the future, I hope to keep you abreast of what our Chapter is planning, and when and where our Meets will be. We will try to hold these meets in interesting locations, and, as always, make these an event you can bring your Family to. And as the saying goes," what do you get when you get 30 Arkansasans together?........A Full set of TEETH!

Yeah, Arkansas is about a mile or so, as the crow flies, from where I am - trouble is not much going on in January!!! LOL

    Hudsonly,

PS - anybody curious about the Dr. Hiney/Aunt Hester odyssey drop me a line - that story, once it got off the Hudson chat page wound up as a "guest" editorial in the WTN not long after the Nashville National. I got a copy of it on my home computer.

I sometimes wonder if Pete Booze ever recovered from that one. hehehehehe

  • I attended that 1st meeting of the Arksansas Chapter of the HET Club. Hotel was very nice, and the people were great! I learned a lot about Hudsons from the assembled participants. Was able to purchase a remote reservoir for the brake fluid and a replacement vent window gear. The car cruise was something - BOY THOSE HUDSON GUYS REALLY DRIVE THEIR CARS! The car cruise was 50 mile out and 50 miles back, but the restaurant was great.

Norma Hingardner was really great. Don't know how she could do everything she did in the face of her loss. I never met her husband, but got to know him through the other club members assembled at this meeting. In fact the only negative to the entire meeting was finding that someone had a nicer 49 Hudson Commodore than I had ( nice car Bruce! ).

I hope the Arkansas HET Chapter will be very active in the upcoming year.

Erwin Sanchez-Flores in Shreveport, LA makes and sells the remote resevoirs. He was president of the Red River Chapter, HET for many years (from which the Arkansas Chapter was developed), and is an HET director. He's in the roster, or PM me for email address. Have one on my '51 Hornet. Walt-LA
  • Walt,

Thanks for replying for me as I am on the road and didn't have access to that information. I assume you were present at the Arkansas HET Chapter meeting and assume we met.

51hornetA - you have to meet Erwin. He is a very INTERESTING personality and really worth meeting, in addition he makes those remote resevoirs and also replacement vent window gears. He might make more parts, but those were the ones I remember and purchased for myself.

Wkitchens - assume I met you at the meeting also. We were the couple from the Flippin AR area with the Maroon and Cream 49 Hudson I you are the voice of the Arkansas HET Club, keep me in mind when Norma Heingardner hold the club planning meeting in April ( I think it was April ).

No, didn't make the Fall Colors Tour, this year, but did write it up for the Red River Chapter Newsletter in November. Erwin is a very innovative guy, who also makes a number of other parts, as well as the remote reservoir for brake fluid. His brake fluid reservoir is plumbed to fit on the inner DS fender. I mounted mine on the cowl, which required some additional tube bending, but better suits me. Trying to get him to do the same for hydramatics...
