Probably not, simply because its not a Hornet. I believe your's is a Commodore.
I was recently driving the Wasp around, working out some bugs and shaking out some rust, and stopped at the local country store just as school was dismissing for the day.
Several kids and their parents were stopping to grab that after school snack, with most of them walking around the Super Wasp. Wide eyed, gawking school kids, all knowing it was a Hudson via the movie "Cars". The excitement was electric - I was all jazzed just watching their own excitement at seeing a real, live Hudson.
The comical part of this was one kid perked up and asked, "If this is a Hornet, why do all the badges say Wasp?". I replied, "because it is a Wasp, A Super Wasp - but not a Hornet."
You could hear the collective sigh of disappointment for miles! One of those mass "ahhhhhhhhhh" with heads lowering, turning to thier own cars - as if Bugs Bunny himself had just died.
I jumped in the car, kinda smiling because it was such a classical comedic situation, and said to my Dad -"Dang good thing nobody asked if it had Twin-H or not - I would likely have been stoned to death!".
So, I doubt my Wasp has increased in value one penny.
You know this is funny, so why not laugh? We're not all Hornet fanatics (okay maybe the engine - but that's all).

I disagree.. I believe that it's worth more implicitly just because of the the fact that it's a Hudson. All Hudson cars will continue to gain interest because Doc has put them on the grid. Aspiring classic car buffs will now reach for a Hudson rathere than a Chevy, Ford and so on..... Personally, I think Wasp's are the Cat's pajama's. Super Wasp's are the Bee's knee's....0

Actually I agree as well, that story just struck me as too funny not to tell. On that particular day, I'd say rather than the kids trading their lunch for the Hudson - I'd have gotten maybe a used stick of chewing gum. Simply because it wasn't a Hornet.
However, the likelihood of our "other" Hudsons ever rising at or near the value of a Hornet - won't happen. That Hornet mystique, will always be the calling card of the Hudson.
I started out that way also. Then I had the chance to buy the Super Wasp, and my perspective changed. Where I first thought of it as a stepping stone to a Hornet someday, I wouldn't swap it for a Hornet now. Great, underestimated cars in my opinion.

If one Hudson model goes up, more will aswell, just not as much.
The golden globe award winners generally translate to Acadamy Award winners.
One thing that you can count on, there will be a sequel. This movie made a bazillion dollars for Pixar. Hopefully, Doc will still be a part of it. I can see it now, Baby Lighting McQueen's being baby sat by Doc.....
P.S. I love the Super Wasp Coupes too!0 -
thanks Dave - I see they are only 5 X 9" so won't bother0

OldHudsons - Not true I got an adult Doc Shirt custom made from the disney store online. I had "1951" printed on the back.
As far as movie attention, even before the movie, when you say "Hudson" at a show everyone else says "Hornet" The other models aren't too commonly in the public's imagination. Muscle cars are the bulk of the old car hobby now and the Hornet was the closest thing the company made to a muscle car in translation of that era. It's not a beginner's car to restore. However, maybe with the movie and the fact that everyone and their grandma has had and seen Chevy, Ford, Mopar cars, you could make an argument that there's a portion of the hobby lookin for something different. Hudson owners always fit that description.0 -

You know, what we should be rooting for is a prequel, not sequel.
The story of Route 66 pre-interstate, and how Doc came to be in Radiator springs.
That would be a fantastic movie. Then perhaps some other forgotten makes could be brought to light. Packard, Stude, The arch nemesis of Doc - The Olds Rocket!
I'm kinda worried about the prospects for any further Cars treatment. Wasn't it a joint venture between Disney and Pixar? A relationship that no longer exists.
I love what we do have, and it no doubt put Hudson back on the map!

You can pick up blank iron on transfer sheets at any fabric/craft store and they go right through your home computer printer. Take any Hudson picture that's sitting on your computer and make your own "fashion" statement!0 -
Just a thought --
If any of you are showing a '51 Hornet coupe at a car show this coming season, why not take a digital camera along with you. If any young kids ooo and ahhh over your car, offer to take their photo in the driver's seat, and get an e-mail address from their parents so you can send a jpeg to them after the show.
No reason why we can't 'milk this thing' while it's still hot, and enlist the help of the younger set in keeping it hot! The kids are our future, and if they end up passing the photo around to their classmates at school....well, you never know what might happen!0 -

You know Jon - that's just an excellent idea at all levels!
We always debate how to get more people into loving/buying/restoring/rodding these beautiful cars rather than let them disapear into obscurity.
It's just not practical to always give someone a "hands-on" ride for the Hudson experience...someone offering to take a family picture with the car and sending it to them would go a long way in promoting good will and Hudson Envy!0
