Did all 54 Hornets come with Fender Rocket's

    No, they were added by dealer or owner.

    So it was an option ? The reason that I ask is because most 54's do not have them . However 51-53 Hornets all seem to have them ? I don't get it .....

    As far as I know, they were a standard part of the 51-53 Hornet design.

    Called "cost cutting". I suspect that any of the 51-53 rockets left over after the '53 production run were slapped on 54's until they ran out of them. At that point they certainly wouldn't have just tossed them in the trash pile.



    Dealers who had left overs in stock may have offered them to customers, or supplied them when asked.



    I think that's probably pretty much the case.

    So I guess that brings me to my second question. Do you think that the 54's should have the fender rocket's or does it look better without ?

    My 54 doesn't have them, but then it is a Special too. Mine says Special under the Hornet emblem on the passengers side but just Hornet on the drivers side. Thought that was strange as the car does not appear to have been wrecked or modified. According to Hudzilla who really knows the stepdowns, this was normal for 54. They were just putting on what they had available or wanted to get rid of as the merger was coming. This may have been the case with the rockets too.

    my 54 has rockets and horse collar that are not right for 54, but were offered by dealers as a service installation. They are are what I like best! I have all factory options including p/s & p/b and the juke box add on's, i.e. visor, wire wheel covers, continental kit, fender rockets and horse collar. I believe you should do what you like best.
