Looking for some tech info. In dealing with Egge (witch I'll never do again) they have sent piston rings with end gap of about .015. One book recommends a minimum of .009, the other recommends .012 clearance. I guess the question is, would the .015 be too much out of range?

  • Rule of thumb concerning rings. .004 clearance per inch of piston. You will be alright at .016. For every .001 of honing or wear on cly. figure +.003 larger end gap.

    3 inch bore--.012 clearance 3 inch bore tapered or worn .003 at top of bore--.021 clearance
