Looking for some tech info. In dealing with Egge (witch I'll never do again) they have sent piston rings with end gap of about .015. One book recommends a minimum of .009, the other recommends .012 clearance. I guess the question is, would the .015 be too much out of range?

Rule of thumb concerning rings. .004 clearance per inch of piston. You will be alright at .016. For every .001 of honing or wear on cly. figure +.003 larger end gap.

3 inch bore--.012 clearance 3 inch bore tapered or worn .003 at top of bore--.021 clearance
