  • Yes, Dave, I know what you mean. I just read Hudsonkid's sign-off thread and I'm not sure what to make of it. I understand and respect freedom of speech, yet I understand the need to not turn this forum into a b!tc#ing board. It's sometimes hard to balance "rights" and "responsibilities".

As I've said in other threads, the reason I come here is to hang out with others who speak my language, that of old orphan cars. I feel welcome here; I have gotten plenty of help and expertise and I really don't want to lose that or the friends I have made on this forum.
  • Tom,

I too have read hudsonkid's sign-off. I can only hope that those who know him, or can understand that he meant no harm, will PM him. He's really down about this whole thing and I think that some people here owe an apology for the mean and saracastic tone they have taken with him and others. There are 100's of members on the forums, but was the decision to remove his poll done with fairness or at the request of a majority of members? Obviously not. That aside, I enjoy all of the topics discussed there. Whether I like them, hate them or benefit from them, it doesn't matter. We all learn from listening to what others have to say. It's too bad that some people don't, or won't, understand that life can't always be serious and that, sometimes, you have to let your hair down. You seem to be a great guy. Thanks for being respectful and keeping a cool head. We need more people like you.

Thanks so much, Dave. Sometimes I wonder if I let my hair down a little too much. I have been guilty of my share of political rants on these forums, for better or worse! (I keep a cool head??):rolleyes: I guess I wouldn't open up like that if I wasn't absolutely comfortable with whom I was talking. But the fact of the matter is, I do respect the opinions and ideas of the others on this forum. They help me to better formulate my own. Thanks again, Dave, and all the rest of you, for welcoming me to this forum and helping to make me feel at home. You are truly a great bunch.

BTW, I received my first copy (Jan-Feb '07) of WTN. What a great magazine!! Got the Kaiser-Frazer Quarterly beat for content and quality, I'm sorry to say; but then the K-F Club's numbers aren't up there, either. Looks like TONS of neat stuff in the club store, too. Another place where I can blow my paycheck! COOL!!!:D
  • I myself disliked the poles, but some do, never bothered me one way or the other. If I do not like something I do not participate, THAT SIMPLE. I believe in competition, and in the clutch business it is also welcomed by me, it keeps everything in check. I was a forklift mech for 14 years PPG kept 2 of every vendor in house just for that reason. I sell Master Cylinders for Hudsons and have for years during the Jack Miller days after he was gone I was ask to raise my prices because a club member was selling resleaved ones for much more and they wanted to know why mine was half the price of his rebuilt ones. I get them cheap and pass on the savings was my reply. They quit running my ad in the WTN! I started selling them on Ebay and have trippled my business with them and sell them even cheaper now. I joined the HET recently because of a Personal invite and I just recieved my first one, very nice! I believe when one person can remove a thread is not a good way to do business and there is a word for that kind of governing. I read all post and it is good for entertainment as well as Educating, If you come for the fun and learn something it was worth your while. Lifes short. Hudson kid will be missed I am sure, but I think like me he will be back after time.

They stopped your ad becuase someone else didn't like the competition? Maybe I don't have the whole story, but that doesn't sound cool at all! Can't yell free-market and then cry that someone else is selling cheaper than you are. Sounds like a bad deal badhudson, but glad your doing some good biz on eBay.
