Transmission Stuck in First
Just took my 1940 out for a spin, and when pulled into the garage, I could not get the transmission out of first. Immediatialy prior to that, at a stop sign, it seemed to go into first a bit differently. Is it the transmission safety interlock that is hooked to the clutch, or something else? Help! Thanks.

Sounds like the interlock. Look at the mechanism at the front of the right side of the transmission, which affects the "low and reverse" shift. Check to see if the open part of the sliding cam is aligned with the interlock pin when the clutch is depressed. You can disengage the link easily (remove the cotter key and clevis pin) and play with it to see if there's a slider position where it'll allow the shift. Also compare it with the one on the left side.0
