53 Jet - Fuel Tank Sending Unit

I'm trying to help out a friend who is in need of a replacement sending unit for the fuel tank in his '53 Hudson Jet. This unit does not resemble those in the stepdowns, so the Ford substitute is not an option.



Does anyone know if any Hudson vendors handle the Jet gas tank sending unit? Was this float used in other vehicles (non-Hudson)? Is there a substitute that can be "tweaked" to work?

There was a thread a few months back about Jet sending units. Someone suggested Ken Amman (810-621-3665), but another replied that he was out of them. It might be worth a phone call to see if Ken knows what the unit interchanges with. I couldn't imagine that it was a Hudson Jet only item.

Thanks for the input. I'll pass the information and phone number along to Tony. I agree with you, it does seem that some other vehicle somewhere had to use this same sending unit...or a sending unit darn close to it.
