Nascar pictures
Does anyone out there know of a source for some large-size frameable or poster size pictures of Hudsons doing their thing in the Nascar days.
I'm fixing up the garage a bit, and would like to put up a few of these on the walls to show visitors a few clips of the glory days of these old hotrods. Even something newer such as the one done up that I saw in Moses Lake a couple years back for the PamAm races would be great !! ( Ted Feenstra owns that one ?) Saw it at Billings, Montana for the Western Regional too, -- even used my pickup on one side to "protect it" from car doors etc. but --stupid me, got no pictures of it !! Well ---- I did have pictures, but they are now floating around in the ether due to a hard drive crash a year ago !!
Can anyone suggest a source?
Got the sign up yesterday, --- looks really good I think.

Silverone, I wish you the best of luck. I submitted a thread a few weeks ago asking for sources for pictures that I could scan out of books, or some really good scans, for the purpose of building a series of computer wallpapers/screensavers for my iMac's desktop. I did get a list of books, most notably The Cars That Hudson Built by John Conde, which should be at any decent-sized public library. I KNOW there are decent photos floating around out there; I've seen low-to-medium resolution full-color scans of Marshall Teague with his car and his daughter, and other various pics on the Internet. I guess it's up to the willingness of the pictures' owners to divulge their sources or share the pics. I would almost try to contact NASCAR and see if you can get copies of any of their stock photos. People who do news reports or stories on them have to get them some way. As far as poster-size, you may have to start out with a smaller photo and have it blown up.
Best of luck to you.

My ex wife was from New Smyrna Beach, Florida. One time when we went down to visit her mother, we went to a bar and low and behold- ALL of the pictures going downstairs to the bar were of Hudsons racing at Daytona Beach! It meant nothing to my ex wife, but I was amazed to see all of the great racing photos that were on display!0

Check out the Club Store's item 941, "Hudson Hornet lithograph." It's a nice color litho showing Herb Thomas and Marshall Teague rounding a turn in the sand at Daytona. $40 and well worth it.0

Do you remember what bar it was? I go to New Smyrna Beach every year, I wouldn't mind spending a few bucks in a bar with Hudson pics in it.0 -
Kind of an oddity- it has since been converted to a church!! I don't think that they are praying to Fonty or Marshall!0

Silverone, I have a picture that is 35 inch wide and 24 inch tall on my wall.
Its called "THE LEGENDS OF RACING" (1948-1995) it is in color) It was put togather with the help of Smokey Unick and an Unknown years back. on the top center of the picture is a drawing of a 1952 #92 Blue and White Hornet and a 1959 ? Pontiac with the lower part up to date pictures of Racing cars.
I took a picture of it with my small camera and it is 4x6 is also gives the names of the drivers ( Smokey is to the right)
This small picture does not show the True Quality of the Large one.
I can send you a small copy of the one and to see what you thinkbut dont know to send it on the forom. (maby i can send it to you by email and you can post it ) Thanks Rudy0 -
Might there be good photos in the club library that could be hi-res scanned and reproduced at a larger size?0

Rudy, I'd love to have a copy of that picture !!! If you wish, you can send me an example via email through this forum, or perhaps you'd like to just post it on my website at www.hudsoncollector.com My website can accept a pretty large file, so perhaps the detail will stand out a bit better if you post it there also. Please note though, that due to spammers, I've had to limit posts to members only, but I welcome all newcomers if you're not a member already.
You can also find my email address by going to hudsoncollector, then clicking on "about me" at the top of the home page, and scrolling down and clicking on the flashing email box on that page. As you've probably noticed, I'm a bit spooky about publishing my email address, (or anyone else's for that matter) due to electronic email harvesters that spammers reportedly use, so please bear with me, I really want to hear from you.
Either way, please, please send me an example! We'll figure out a way to process it from there, and who knows, maybe there's a lot of Guys who'd like a copy, and you could make a buck or two sprucing up a few Hudson hideaways !!
Thanks for the reply, and looking forward to hearing from you,

Rudy asked me to post this picture.... Ken
I have a program I got years ago from a Shareware disc that is called POSTER MAKER. It does what the PDF program does. Functionally it can be used to create files which have embedded pasting and cutting points printed on each section. I have enlaged 3X5 picture scans to 6X10 with reasonable detail. I used this program with a MAC and printed the individual section on a Kinkos high definition printer. When the pieces were assembled, I took them to a thermal sealer.. Kinkos can do this with limits to the enlarging. Good Luck guys...0 -
The name of the bar was "Billy Bob's in Port Orange, Florida0

There was a Restaurant on US1 (Port Orange ?) Called Marco's They used to host the Nascar legends banquet, They had lots of memorabilia on the walls. It burned once, but was rebuilt and reopened. I don't know if it is still in existance. I ran into Tim Flock there a maybe 8 years ago. I was admiring a picture postcard on the wall of Tim in his Chrysler 300. I turned around and he was standing behind me with a grin on his face. That was a very memorable moment for me. We chatted for a while before he joined the other drivers in the private dining room. I gave him one of my cards and I'll be darned if he didn't write me a letter! I'll keep that one for a loooong time. Just a regular guy...

FYI, this photograph is used on the cover of Greg Fielden's terrific book Forty Years Of Stock Car Racing: The Beginning 1949-1958.
