36 front suspension

Has any one ever replaced the front axle to frame arm grommet? It is a large round rubber mount, about the size of an engine mount, that the two trailing arms of the front axle attach to. I have mine off and would like to replace them. I don't see them in K-gap's catalog. Somebody out here has probably had some made or found something that would work. Any suggestions?

Thanks

You might try a "radius arm bushing" found on Ford pickups since the 1960's, all of which have twin I-beam front ends. The radius arm locates the front axle in the forward to rearward plane, similar to what the trailing arms you mention do. I just replaced one of the bushings on my pickup, and it might be the same.
  • Thanks, I will look into that.

Scott, there are occasionally a couple of these bushings (used from '36-'39) on Hudson flea market tables, so you may want to "work the network" some more. I molded and sold a few sets of them some years back. Used a commercial liquid Urethane product that can be adjusted for hardness. I did locate the company that made them originally, but an old-timer there confirmed that the molds were discarded years earlier.
