4 - SALE: 1932 Essex sedan
I have been having a real hard time comming to grips with the thought of not doing this project. I have a deep love for late fifties front engine dragsters and I have the opourtunity to obtain a chassis and build one. I am offering the 32' here on the board first then to my favorite Hot Rod board and then to the Evil Bay. Hopefully someone here wants it or knows someone that is a HET member that would. This car I think would make a good core start for a stocker restoration. I am only looking to get what I paid for it last year; $2300.00 it comes with a bill of sale from me. The title was lost years ago.
On top of that I am willing to toss in the 308 that I was going to use for the power plant.
The car sat it in a garage in Sacramento for 30 years and in mine for one. There is not one spot with cancer, just minor surface rust. The pictures speak for them selfs. Keep in mind the car is 75 years old this year and the body does not have one dent
only a couple tiny dings. The doors open and close very smooth. All of the glass is in place and not a crack. The window regulators and tracking are in tact also. Have a look and e-mail me with any questions HETjoecoppa@verizon.net drop the het. I will be happy to take any other picture angles needed. Also the ID numbers all match on the body, front axle and right rear frame rail.
I will let it hang on this board till Wednesday and if no bites then off to the Hot Rod board.
Thanks for looking, Joe

Looks like a great project, for sure. If you're serious about it going to an HET'er, be sure to place an ad in the WTN. A lot more eyes see that than see this board.0 -

Hey Joe...My neighbor accross the street here in Lakewood has and races a nostalgia front engine dragster and is in the loop with the people that know about them. His is a blown alcohol Hemi and a very very nice looking car. His name is Don and I can not think of his last name right now. Damn I hate when that happens
Good Luck, Ron

Damn, that would be cool as a fenderless sedan and either a 308 or a Chrysler 392 Hemi in it! Wish I were three vehicles less than I am now! Good price for a rolling body! Do you have the front fenders, rad shell, or hood?0
-
Hey Ron I'd like to swing by some day and see your car and maybe pick your neighbors brain. You've got a lot of racers in that town. I'll pm you my #.
Patrick that was the plan, a heavily built 308 with a muncie 4-speed and a 9". I would'nt mind seeing someone go through with those plans either.0 -
By the way there is a grill shell on ebay, I know where a set of fenders and running boards are. I have the radiator and the wind shield is in the card board.0

That thing so needs to be channeled! Nice project. Wish I had the space and cash for it.0

I agree on the channel but I think the lines on the A pillar are so cool or unique I wouldn't want to chop it. Also with out a channel those frame rails would look *****en with lightening holes.
Similar to this, maybe more in proportion to the height of the rail.0 -

With a channel and I'm 6'2"....I wouldn't chop it either! That is one cool looking frame man!0 -
I hate to use a FORD for an example but here are a couple more. By the way my attention span isn't capable of finish work like this but it is a great example of what some people are capable of.0

You are ALLRIGHT in my book, I was involved in a fuel flathead altered in the middle 50's, then went to an ARDUN and a 341" Desoto in the altered. till 1959 then Desoto went in a front engine slingshot, ran 180 mph in 1959, We ended up withe a 430" blown AA fuel car and ran 230 at the INDY nationals in 1963. It was a real ball in the 50's and early 60's. Knew all the big boys. I got lots of stories and memories of those times.0 -
Wow tombia you are lucky to have experienced that era of the drag strip. I wasn't born untill '67. I wish I could sit down with you I'd be all ears! I took my young ones to the Hot Rod reunion at Bakersfield this year so they could experience the nostalgia up close, the tail section craftsmenship and the nitro. During the finals Big Daddy drove up in his golf cart and sat three rows in front of us. Thanks to www.wediditforlove.com we can see recorded action from the east to the west. I'd love to see pic's of your altereds and diggers.
have a good day, Joe0 -
I would more than likely bore you to tears. They were good times. We had a real ball with guys like the Speed Sport Special guys out of Tucson, Gene Bradley of fuel flat head rail fame, Seto Postian out of Detroit and Tom Hoover of 426 Hemi fame. Coletta And many others I remember drinking teculia shots and eating tacos with Jocko of Jockos porting service while listening to a recording of Bonneville speed week. Record player broke from the noise. I could go on and on. Look up a copy of August 1958 Rod and Custom. They did a lay out on our fuel flathead altered.0
