"The Curse of the Commodore" a Nancy Drew mystery?0 -
I sure hope this guy does not think he can sell it for more than the BJ auction price if he does we are cursed to see this car appear on ebay every two months like an automobile version of the Flying Dutchman...0

I'll bet it was shill bid up to the posted selling price , then the owner bought it back , thats an expensive way to see how much you can get out of a car !!
a bunch of high dollar Mopars went this route this year .0 -

Are you saying that the B-J auctions are rigged or fake?
I would fully expect all the viewers of the tv production and every Classic Car owner to demand that Congress hold televised hearings to humiliate those thieves. Maybe they shold be broughtbefore the Senate Committee on Un-American Activities.0 -
Deals fall thru all the time at this auction. BJ's still makes their cut, I doubt this type of auction is subject to the crud you get on ebay...it makes no sense someone would "bid" their own car up and pay the 8% premium just to find out what its worth.0

I personally think BJ is a cancer to the car collector hobby. I have been looking for a mid 60's car for the past couple of months and can't believe the number of people that say something like "one just like this sold at BJ for $85K! Of course I am usually looking at a POS at the time. A lot of people think that anything that was made before 1972 is worth at least $5k, running or not!
I have looked at maybe 15 cars and haven't found even one that was worth a test drive. If you have seen my Hudson, you would know that I am not a perfectionist, I am just looking for a daily driver.
Sorry 'bout the rant!

This year BJ and I think the initials are appropriate raised the bidders entrance fee 45% and raised the commission from 8% to 10% just read a nice article in how so far this year auction targets are off. Prices across the board in general are down. You still have some high sells but the majority are way down.0

No they dont just pay the 8% seller fee , they pay the seller fee and buyers fee both and AZ. sales tax too it they are a resident . its actually what they think there car is worth - no to find out what its worth . there are several mopar owners that put up $50,000 to 150,000 or more in BJ fees just to take their cars back home . a 66 Hemi dodge Coronet 4 dr.shill bid to $600,000 for instance and went home, they dont tell the cars were no sales because the auction is a no reserve auction and you turn your title over to BJ before the auction .so the car sold regrardless of who bought it . these people are known as the the more money than brains crowd , Im not sure the term fits sense they can afford to blow money like that . Its also a good way to inflate rare car prices , they have been doing this with the grand classics for many years .0 -

How can they "fall though?" To bid you must put up the money just to get a "bidding paddle." If it turns out they lied about the money I would turn them over to the local police for fraud. This would certainly tell the world that B-J doesn't put up with crap. But it looks like all they care about is the $$$.0 -

More money than sense....hmmm, I'd like to at least try that out 1x in my life0 -
I HOPE you fellows dont really believe what goes on at these auctions. They are SHOWS. A lot of these cars pass from person to person without any bucks passing hands and end up where they started from. Lots of EGO bidding tho. They are put on for Yahoo's like us to think the are on the up and up.0
