pressure regulator - is the car also running an electric pump that they may want to cut back the pressure?0

Looks like a pressure regulating valve (perhaps adjustable) with a pressure gauge on it. Is there an electric fuel pump on the car, that is perhaps putting out too much pressure for the needle valve in the carb?0

Definately a pressure regulator. I would be leery of that hanging on the side of the carb like that. Too much vibration and a lot of unsupported weight on the carb. Mount it to the inner fenderwell and run a hose to the carb, much safer!!

Tom
Come to our club meeting Saturday and I will explain how it works!

The Holley regulators I have used had instructions to mount as close to the carb as possible. I had one in the same place on my Model a Speedster.

Dave, I agree, mount as close to the carb as possible, BUT, It should have some kind of mounting bracket. Maybe mounted off the carb bolts and a heat shield would be nice. Most are not mounted directly over the exhaust like that either.

That is a fuel pressure regulator. Hudson carbs will only take up to 4 and 1/2 pounds.0

The regulator can be easily relocated out of sight...problem solved, although you may still need to make a bracket!0
