has any one looked at the 51 pacemaker coupe on ebay. Looks like a pretty beat up car and his buy it now price is $4500.???? Makes me think my 49 coupe at $1000 was a pretty good buy. Its in better shape than this one. Interesting that whenever they post pics of the frame they always point the camera towards the front of the car.

  • Hi, No I haven't checked out the Pacemaker. I did look at the 53 Hornet(the one with all of the chrome painted out) at $1650. It's got the twin H power, and automatic. He doesn't say whether its the Hydramatic or Dynaflow. ( Remember the big fire at General Motors in 1953?) Also, I found a 41 Coupe, on a different site. It's a 112( ? ) and I don't know anything about these. The owner wants $8000, for it, and it looks to be in very nice shape. Thanks Steve

    steve,
if original, it would be a Hydramatic. the late 53 fire effected early 54's (and not jet) approx nov - jan production where a borg warner automatic (same as studebaker) was used.
    the '41 is either not a 41 or not a 112 as the 112 was 38 and 39 only.

I think this car was on ebay a few months ago and sold. (?) I'm sure this is the same car from Fall Hershey 2006 and was on a trailer in the chocolate field. I got a couple pictures and the guy told me it was $6500. I looked under the rear and if I recollect it had rust out in the perimeter, no interior, etc. I thought it would have been okay for about $1000-1500.
  • I checked my pictures closer and the trailer had Michigan plates. Sounds like it probably sold on ebay and now is for sale again. I'd check it out before bidding too much, especially $4500.

I saw it at Hershey in the chocolate field also. It did have a little bit of rust in the perimeter frame area. I would like to have it for around 1000-1500, but not one penny more. It needs everything.
  • Amusing to say the least. Remember a short time ago with the Beat up Hornet coupe? That fellow said he going to do this and do that also if someone did't buy his valuable car. Don't these people ever learn?
