Engine Knock Update again
Ok, this is where I stand, pulled the crank and the mains look good. some spotty wear but not bad says the crank guy. Now for the question. On the 1/2 inch stroked crank are there any clearance issues with the block that I need to look at? I am having the crank magnafluxed just to be sure it is not cracked. We checked and it does not look bent and everythnig looks to be round. So now I am looking at other issues as we have almost elimiated the crank as the problem.

Any suggestions are greatly appreshated.

I'm still betting a valve is hitting the side or the top of the head as Russ Maas suggested. I might be wrong, but I think I taught him well.

By the way, no clearance problems with the 5 inch stroke.

Thanks Randy,
I do value the advice. I am quickly getting to the top of the engine. I hate to pull the head but why not everything else is apart. What ever I find I will post the results.

Were you able to eliminate or minimise the knock by shorting out the plugs? If not I would go along with either the edge of the piston hitting the gasket, or a valve touching the head. If you were able to elininate the knock then it has to excess clearance either in the piston, pin, or rod.
