Fuel Tank "Padding"
Greetings from Colorado!
I'm just about ready to put my refurbished fuel tank back in my '51 Hornet. A question. On top of the tank when I pulled it were strips of "padding" that were glued to the raised ribs. What was this material and does anyone know where I can find it? Or, is there a substitute?
Thank you, George T

George, I don't know what is was for on your car, but on my 37' T-Plane I used a one inch thick rubber pad to lower my tank to allow the new sending unit to fit. I had a stainless tank produced as my original was beyond repair. It could also be for vibration. Hope this helped.0

Kind of a linen material. Probably some foam tape would work OK.0

There is a foil insulation product that would work nicely. Available at www. julianos.com and J.C. Whitney. Works well in floorboards and on the roof to keep the interior somewhat cooler.0

Do you think that the foam "tape" that they use between the top of the pickup bed and topper would work?
