Well, they are probably right, there will not be another one anywhere EXACTLY like this one! I wonder where he got the "All stainless" concept from? :0)

I don't know. It seems to me that there at least six degrees of separation between a Hudson and a Delorian.

I never heard of a stainless steel jet, let alone with a half wood and half stainless steel dashboard. maby it is a "prototype" ha, ha, perhaps in school there should be a class that teaches facts about cars. besides the starting price, look at his "handling fee" very por description of the car. anyone in the sacramento area know about this car? or perhaps the seller? this person is just like the guy who has put anad for a '48 hudson hornet "8" all origional. sure.. we all need a laugh from time to time. keep up the good work e-bay shows what happens when the mental health institutions are closed.

What struck me when I saw this was, Wow if the Jet convertible prototype had only been all stainless, I wouldnt be going thru what I am right now.
  • Hi, I can remember Union Carbide had 6 1960 Thunderbirds built out of Stainless Steel, in there lobby at there building in NYC. Carbide paid the bill, I can't remember who actually did the build job. Somewhere I should have pics from 1960. Maybe this Jet was an earlier auto built by the same company. Steve

First time I've ever seen surface rust on stainless steel!!! And I've been around a lot of stainless under salt water conditions over the years.

Or maybe it's the paint that's rusting.

Sacramento? - The seller lists Victorville, CA. Thats near Edwards AFB in the desert north of Riverside CA.

There was also 6 1936 Fords made in stainless steel with some surviving and a 66 Lincoln Continental Convertible in Stainless. Wasn't aware of the Jet, and would be suspicious judging from the pictures.
  • I'm suspicious just based on his (mis) use of the English language.
  • I know its stainless steel because he said its dishwasher safe and thats good for a Jet......

Right, Dave...maybe he meant stainless steal?
  • Stainless steel, my big white butt! Obviously, he was ditching school the day they were talking about oxidation in science class...third grade science class!

I don't know that the eBay lister is trying to pull one over. It seems they're trying to help out the seller, but doesn't know what they're talking about. Based on the brief description, the lister probably doesn't know stainless steel from aluminum, and is just observant enough to know that it's real metal versus what they make these days. As far as the use of English, it's amazing how many Americans who've been born and raised here are illiterate, or at least just getting by.
  • Here is a link to the Stainless cars that were made buy this company.

I worked for Roto Lincoln Mercury in Arlington Heights which is just outside Chicago starting in 1967 and one of the reps had brought in the Stainless Lincoln. I could only imagine what the glare was like in the sun while driving.

  • Hi, Has anybody actually gone over and looked the car over first hand? Steve

I'd go but I'm afraid that there might be Kryptonite under the hood...
  • One thing we know about the car, for certain, is that it is NOT "stainless steel". It might be a good project for a Jetter, but it isn't stainless! Maybe the seller has never seen a DeLorean, or the stainless roof panels on a few early '60s Imperials, or a dinner knife!

I remember reading about the Fords several years ago. Those were all very nice rides!
