Is there anywhere to search for a list of new car dealers that sold Hudsons back in 1947?

I have a building that rumor has it was built new for a Hudson dealership in 1947 and was wanting to see if I could locate any info before remodeling what was the showroom...property is located in west central Illinois (QUINCY)

Well, the club store did have a book by Lee Dodd's wife that listed known Hudson dealers, but I don't see it listed in the latest WTN.

You might check the local newspaper - they usually have a morgue and if you're lucky old papers will be on microfilm. Check for Hudson dealers ads in the papers. Quincy probably didn't have more than one or two dealers.

You might also check the local library to see if they have any old street directories - or city hall may allow you to check the deed records, or may have old business directories.

Also check local historical society archives for Quincy if their is one.... somethime they keep all the town's old Newspapers which may have ads or stories and pictures of the old dealership.
  • My 1929 Hudson has a metal plate nailed to the passenger side of the front seat that says Sold By Normandin-Campen Co. San Jose Calif. The dealer is still there ( Mopar ) I think but with only one of the two names. I did email them about my car and was givin the eamil addy to the owner with the same name as the dealer. I did email this person 2wise with no return email. I think the salesman was more interested in my story then the owner. Anyone have any information about this Hudson Dealer ? Thanks, Ron
