7X Engine Block ID

As I mentioned earlier, I have purchased the 7X engine from John Soneff that was recently offered on e-bay. He says the only number on the block where the serial number is a single digit, the number 2.

Does this number mean anything to anyone?

He has owned the engine since 1959. It was installed into a 1949 Hudson convertible by a local Hudson dealer he had worked for.

Not sure of all the particulars but he is documenting the history of it since he has owned it.... Niels

  • All of the literature I have read stated the dealer would stamp a serial number on the block prefaced by a state code. In somes states you registered the car by engine serial number. If 2 is stamped on it and that was done in 1959 that would be after the Hudson brand was retired and was probably an AMC dealership and when installing the engine they did not stamp the engine with a serial number. So 2 has no real meaning that I can tell.
