Evidently this song is about a cheating woman that he likens to the Terraplane
- Terraplane Blues
- And I feel so lonesome you hear me when I moan
- When I feel so lonesome You hear me when I moan

- I'm on'h'ist your hood, mama I'm bound to check your oil
- I'm on'h'ist your hood, mama-mmm I'm bound to check your oil
- I got a woman that I'm lovin' way down in Arkansas Now, you know the coils ain't even buzzin' little generator won't get the spark
Motor's in a bad condition, you gotta have these batteries charged - But I'm cryin', please plea-hease don't do me wrong
- Who been drivin' my Terraplane now for you-hoo since I've been gone
- Mr. Highway man plea-hease don't block the road
- Puh hee hee plea-hease don't block the road
- Cause she's re'ist'rin a cold one hundred and I'm booked and I got to go
- Mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm You ooo ooo ooo You hear me weep and moan
- Who been drivin' my Terraplane now for you-hoo since I been gone
- I'm on get deep down in this connection keep tanglin' with your wires
- I'm on get deep down in this connection hoo-well, keep tanglin' with these wires
- And when I mash down on your little starter then your spark plug will give me fire

For those who didn't go to Ebay to look, the "Terraplane Blues" 78 RPM record was bringing $1,700+ when I looked.
Also in the "go figure" category, I follow an antique tractor board- mention made there of a 1958 John Deere 330 tractor on Ebay. The 330 was a small (25 HP), rather unremarkable tractor, of limited use, consequently not many were sold, and it is the least common John Deere of its era. The Ebay example is one owner, nice original condition, and the kicker is, its serial number 1. 52 bids so far, 5 days to go, $53,100! Suddenly, the prices on those Hornet converts we've lusted after don't look so outrageous! I've driven lots of John Deeres, and Hudsons are definitely more fun!0 -

I'll just listen to Johnson's Terraplane Blues on the CD collection album I have. Hell of a lot cheaper.
If you study the lyrics closely you'll see that, for it's time, T'plane Blues was quite, shall we say, racy. But a lot of blues tunes back then were.
I miss going down old 61 into the Mississippi delta and dropping into the juke joints to listen to that raw Delta blues sound. Not the safest thing to do these days - not like the 1950's.
For something interesting check out this web site - Terraplane Blues lives!!

Oh, c'mon you guys...she did a fantastic rendition of the original song. You must not 'understand' the blues if you don't like this!0 -

In order to really, really, understand the blues you got to go out into the delta cotton fields after a week or so of heavy rains and pick cotton for about 2 days!!!
However, an easier way was, as I mentioned before, to hang out in some of the juke joints out there. Yeah, there are "safe" juke joints today - but those are for tourist consumption, the bands are, if not professional, at least semi-professional. Ain't nothing like standing at a bar on a Sat nite with a cold beer in hand listening to some of those old cotton pickers wail. Like most everything else, progress has pretty much cleaned everything out.
