hudson8 wrote:Hi---I have a 308 block with the serial #300773. Can someone tell me what year it is? Thanks in advance.
One serial number source I dug up gave 1953 serial numbers 202917 to 269059 and 1954 269060 up.
So I might go out on a limb and say with that number it would be a 1954 308.

If it is a bare block and you can see the top of the cylinders look at the valve area the 54 308 Block will have the valve relief i.e Super Induction. If you post a pic I can tell you for sure.0

I got a little chuckle out of this site. I know I have some serial number info somewhere, but I can never find it when I need it, so I thought that I'd like to copy and save the list printed there. Even though it gives credit to the source of the info as the White Triangle News (which I'm sure I have around here somewhere), when I highlighted it and tried to right click on it, up came the warning, "Sorry, no snagging!"0 -

Hi to all you Hudson moguls out there & a big "Thank You" to each & every one who answered my post for year information. I was told that it was a 54 block & I thought that I could identify it as such after I removed the head, but alas, I could not remember how much relief showed on the earlier blocks. Thanks again.---Cliff Minard.0

Of course if you had a copy of my General Information Handbook you would find not only 1948-1954 Monthly Model Year Production data, but also production and shipping data 1948 thru 1954 AND 1946-1947 Model Year production numbers. Plus a lot of other data for 1909 thru 1957, including Essex and Terraplane, right at your finger tips.

My thanks, as well, to you guys. I've learned more than I know what to do with. Alex, it's only pointless procrastination and absentmindedness that has kept me from ordering your info package. I'll contact you shortly.0
