Stepdown frame repair

From memory the chassis rails are 1mm/40thou, floors are half of that. But I'd measure it to make sure.0

16 gauge is what I am using for sheet metal repairs and the outer perimeter frame.
I believe the inner frame rails are 14 gauge - but these rarely need repairs other than spring mounts....0 -
Thanks guys for your help!

Check out my website.... the following link goes to a sheet on frame repair.
Note that recenly one of the California HETers bought a frame rail from Vic Z to replace the spring mount area of his frame. Cut and weld in which created a factory quality repair.
Good Luck

Gus Souza told me you can take out the rotted rear from by removing the seam sealer and drilling out the pinch welds the factory made then weld a good frame section back into it might want to call him if you get stuck.0

Thanks Jon, I do know about the floor pans available from Ken Amman. Luckily my rust issues are relatively minor but do require some small areas of metal replacement. I appreciate all of the responses - all that's left to do now is fire up the welder!0

I hate you  - nah - just kidding!
I wish mine hadn't had the rust issues - of course I bought mine site-unseen on ebay...the #1 thing not to do with a stepdown!
Of course everytime I see pictures of the prototype Jet convertible I feel really lucky0 -
No offense taken, Dan. I'll just try to live up to the standards you've set with the sheetmetal work on your '49.
