52 3spd overdrive trans.
I pulled the 3spd O.D. trans out of my Wasp - it appears to be in good condition , it shifts good into all gears , is full of grease , and is nice and tight .the O.D. cable is there as is the wiring for the O.D. Is anyone interested in buying it and how much is it worth .

I don't need it, but in 1952 it could be a single or double lever trans. Early 52's still had the single lever trans and early style rear end. Either way, I'd guess it would be worth $100-200. Someone that's converting to OD may also want the drive shaft if you're getting rid of it.0

Heck, the way it sounds, maybe hudsondad is giving me a broad hint of considering this one, instead of the painful extraction process of finding mine in his garages....0

I didn't find your OD transmission yet, but after I found the keys to the one garage, I came across a 50 stick/OD driveshaft. I also found a 50 Olds rear crossmember, but that was in a different building. Soooo, we'll get you fixed up this year. (No, you can't have the Olds crossmember, That for the 40 Chevy coupe)0 -
With all the "peripherals" on it (governor, solenoid, bracket for holding the lockout cable at the tranny end, etc.) it's worth closer to $200 than $100.0

yeah, hudsondad's just cheap...
he's used to dealing in terms on hydramatic cars, anyhow...
Only way I want that olds crossmember is if it comes with an Olds rocket engine on it, with trans. I would even consider that, if we can't find the OD tranny....
Could it get any better? Olds Rocket, in a hudson? :eek:0 -
I have a hotrod magazine from 54 that has a guide to sticking a Olds Rocket engine in a Hornet. Its called "Heating a Hudson" didn't quite get that title until I read the article. Seems the Olds engine goes in pretty smooth.0

Especially in dealing with a hydramatic car, the swap would be somewhat easy and have lots of room under the hood. I've seen Olds engines also stuck in Kaisers of the early 50s, probably because they all bought HMs from GM. Almost a bolt in because all you need is a single front mount. Back 15-20 years ago we pulled a bunch of Hudson and Olds engine/trans out of junk yards, lots for $25/piece. WISH I would have pulled some of those early Mopar Hemis and Nailhead Buicks too. There seems to be a nostagia engine swap fad brewing.0 -
Ahhh... at least you won't have to part with a rocket olds motor for me, the 41 Olds coupe is off limits. something tells me that it is ROUGH...0

Make sure it is rust free inside. I just paid 850.00 to have a double lever rebuilt for our 54 that I was told was good. I had it rebuilt by a reliable club member and am sure it is good as new.

Im amazed every time I hear rust belt storys , you should have bought mine , it looks great inside . I just started three of my cars that hadnt been touched for 21 yrs. they fired right up. Lots of difference between WY. desert and the rust belt !!0 -
Olds Rocket in a Hudson is HERESEY! But probably something the NASCAR racers would've done if it was legal on the tracks. LOL .... As far as your OD stateline a lot of guys who have stick non-OD cars do convert them to OD and with the OD driveshaft ready to go I'd say $200 is not unreasonable.0
