Mopar?

Probably asking the wrong bunch about this, but I had my Essex parked outside yesterday, and a young guy came along and asked "Is it a Mopar, because his Dad was into all model Mopars". Meaning models, (toys). I of course informed that he was looking at a pedigree of the Hudson motor Car company, the biggest selling model the company ever produced, and the World's largest selling Six, which suitably impressed him. Then I asked him what "Mopar" actually stood for, and apart from saying it had something to do with Chrysler and Dodge, he was nonplussed. Can any of you guys enlighten me further?

Geoff.

  • I've always called "MOPAR" "Masters Of Performance And Racing", until an old friend of mine and a Chevy lover said it meant "Masters Of Parts And Repair". I kinda gave up on bringing out the first one to people I don't know.....

Thanks for that guys. So it doesn't stand for "Mouldy Old Piles of Accumulating Rust" then.
