I was wondering if someone could tell me how many 1929 Hudson phaetons short wheel base briggs body cars were manufactured? I have one and it is currently under restoration and was interested to know how many were produced.

As far as I know, those sort of numbers don't exist anymore, due to the fact that most of the company records were thrown out at the time of the Nash-Hudson merger. There are yearly overall production figures but they're not broken down into anything like body styles. You might try contacting the individual-year registrar for 1929 (listed in the WTN) to see if he has figures for the number of surviving '29 phaetons. But of course he'll only know about cars whose owners bothered to contact him.

    Hi Ron.

Thank you for your intrest, the restoration is taking its time due to work commitments and working on a 1919 Essex 4 and a 1930 Hudson etc ,however it is progressing. The engine, gearbox, diff and chassis are finished and I am now working on the body and timber frame. The body is in very good condition except for the rear tub section, this will require extensive repairs due to rust.

This car has 12 spoke demountable wheels. I would still like to know howmany were made if possible. Regards Sean.

Sean - As indicated above it's hard to know how many were made broken down by body style model, etc. But the HET Club 2007 roster lists 3 1929 Hudson Phaetons. Bear in mind this is only cars identified as such, does not take into account entries in the roster where body style was not identified in incorrectly identified. Nor Essex Phaetons, nor any other cars out there that are owned outside of the HET club.... and gettingin into that era there seems to be a fair number of cars outside of the HET club.
