    Hi, Just rebuilding a 308 to stock specs will greatly enhance performance over the 232. Adding 2" intake valves with 30 degree seats along with a multi angle valve job and all new guides will add more HP. You can regrind the cam at Isky (and other Co's) for even more power. The Twin H Setup's are advertised on eBay regularly. Headers are recomended or at least install the 7X Dual Outlet advertised in the White Triangle Classified. These mod's will make you a powerful driver. If more performance desidered I suggest contacting Randy Maas or Danny Spring who race Hudson Hornet motors.All rebuild Parts & Gaskets are available thru Dale Cooper; wwwhudsonmotorcarco.com ;

    The 7X did not have a stroked crank to my knowledge as told from people I knew knew from that era. However, In my opinion some very creative things were done with the stock crankshafts by Smokey Yunick and others, like offset grinding, increased clearances, lightening, and balancing to closer tolerances...

    Thanks, this is a great tip here. Everyone should write this one down. Seems there are a pretty fair amount of rear main seal leaks posted on the forum. This might be the best alternative route.

  • For a good healthy street driven 308, I would suggest a 1/16 overbore, and 7x valves and relief. Headers. One of the Randy Maas Super Street camshafts. You can use the Twin H, if you can find one, or a Clifford intake with a Carter or Edelbrock 500cfm carb. Port the block and intake to match the gasket for good airflow.

    These show up very frequently on ebay. Also in the white triangle news if you're a member. Have to watch out for cracks, especially on the exhaust manifold. Also every now and then the edmunds 2 X 2 manifolds show up on ebay. You can get headers and aluminum 4 barrel manifolds at Clifford for a reasonable price. You can buy a new 500 cfm edelbrock carb for around $200-225. Clifford was talking about doing a twin carb manifold, but don't know if anything happened yet.
