Chuck;
Try Northwesternautosupply.com. They had a set on ebay about a week ago, they may have more. There phone# is 616-241-5611. Be sure to buy a matching set, just putting on a aluminum cam gear won't work. The cam and crank gears need to have the same pitch. Gene.0 -
Thanks Gene
I know i will need a matching set. I really dont have alot of faith in the old fiber type gears in the splasher engine.

The aluminum ones aren't common but they're out there. You will have to either machine the webs of the gear, to clear the bolts on the engine block, or you will have to use special bolts to mount them. But it's all worth the money and effort, as these fiber gears tend to give out at the darndest inconvenient times! I changed over to a metal gear in my '37 in the late 70's and have driven over 40,000 worry-free miles since doing so.0

Hi Jon B,
Just curious. Why did you change yours? Is there a known problem with the fiber gear? Always interested in avoiding things that may "give out at the darndest... times!"
I guess I will check the book and see what the part number is for replacement just in case.0 -
They disentegrate! One thing that happens is that the metal hub separates from the fiber gears and then the timing is shot!0
-
That would be inconvenient.0

Right, your '24 has a timing chain, adjustable at the water pump.
Let me know how much you want for the kit, I have 2 cars that use the gear set.0
