I believe the original antenna was chrome plated. The chrome comes off thru the years and has a brass, soft steel type.I think that it was originally just 2 pieces, the first tube with a tube inside it,and a ball on the end.I'm not sure if these are still availible?.The new types I've seen are a 3 tear type mast. The small set screw should release the antenna.I think Joe Stinnett sells the base with a new antenna in it.He is in the roster, lives in Orlando,Fl.0 -
The antenna on my '54 is chrome. I just had it re-plated. They straightened and polished the inner mast, which appeared to be stainless steel.0

Kind of what I was talking about.the chrome had come off.I guess if it's good enough to replate that is great.0
