Dumb coil question

I have a 51 Hornet that has previously been converted to 12 volt. I purchased a new Pertronix coil, and have a question. The coil that is currently mounted only indicates "bat" on one of the posts, but the new coil has + and - . The thing that confuses me is that the wires connected to the "bat" post go to the condensor and distributor. That doesn't seem right. How should I hook up the new coil? Any help would be aprreciated.
Thanks

Don, if the car is now negative ground, connect "ignition power" to the + terminal, then the "-" terminal gets connected to the distributor and condenser. If the car is still positive ground, reverse the coil connections.0

Thanks. That's what I thought. I hooked it up and it fired instantly. I should be back on the road tonight.
