Working on Essex and Terraplane, tho it appears Terraplane is the same as Hudson from 1936 thru 1938.

    Thanks Del.

I've started putting the Essex and Terraplane color options on the web site - so far have 1929 and 1930 Essex.

Web site URL is in the first post above.

  • I am trying to find the paint code # for the 1940 ford car color

FOLKSTONE GREY, " enamel paint". A recent PPG or Ditzler # that can be

used so I can purchase this paint.

    Thank You , Wally 801-643-4553
  • Here you go....

    DQE-30183 or 30275-DAL

I suspect the first number is Lacquer and the later Enamel.

    Hello,

Thank you, hudsontech, for making so much Hudson information readily accessible on your website.

Where would one find the paint code on a 1947 Cab Pickup?

    Take care,

Actually, Ted, DAL means Ditlacq Automotive Lacquer, DQE is for enamel - D for Ditzler, not sure what the Q is, E for enamel.

Regards 1946-1947 colors - Haven't found any paint codes for trucks only. I think they used same as cars, but were limited to one or two colors, maybe. If I'm thinking right, the paint codes should be somewhere on the ID plate on the right front door pillar.

  • I have always been told and never did see a new hudson pickup any color but dark blue. Black or gunmetal gray. Most were gray.

Alex I have a friend that just bought a 53 hornet painted black but when he started to remove moldings it was green and the roof antenna when removed was dark green. Can you list the color codes for green. I'm trying to find my color chart but no luck so far. I believe the paint was Du Pont. Walt.

I'd say it's Meadow Green Poly.: DAL-41303 , which was a new color for '53. I've only got the 1953-54 Paint Options on my site under the OPTIONS tab, but you can view the color chips there as well for a visual aid.
  • Sarah you have some great info on your site. Very well organized.

I have a 1941-1954 Ditzler Car Color List that lists the following for 1953:

(first number is paint code, followed by color, followed by Ditzler Code)

    CC-134 - Robins Egg Green - 10184

    P-136 - Blue Grass Green - 41297

    Q-133 - Surf Green - 41300

    S-132 - Meadow Green Poly - 41303

Then to toss more fuel on the fire, Hudson factory lists as follows:

    (Option Letter, Standard Color)

    B - Broadway Blue

    CC - Robins Egg Green

    J - Southern Blue

    P - Blue Grass Green

    Q - Surf Green

    S - Meadow Green

If I remember correctly the Hudson letters (B, CC, J, etc) are stamped on the ID tag on the right front door post.
