Jackpot????
Well guys I have either hit the jackpot or strolled across my weenie. While looking at a 47 Commodore for use as a parts donor car fo rebuilding my 47 the chap I was dealing with offered to sell me all 9 of the Hudsons he had, as well as a shed full of parts, for one reasonable(?) price. Cars were 1 39 coupe, 1 42(?) 2 door sedan, 1 47 Commodore 4 door, 3 50(?) Jet Sedans, and 3 54(?) Jets. All cars are in rough shape but only one 54 could not be rebuilt. Parts included a NOS crankshaft for a straight 8 (not sure of year), many chrome bumper parts (some NOS), taillight lenses (some NOS), pistons, rings, bearings, radios, wheel cylinders, shackles, exhaust pipes, one transmission, one rear axle, etc. Needless to say I took the bait and all is now mine. Will be posting pictures and an Excel spreadsheet covering the parts soon. Will be parting out the cars unless someone offers me a fair price for a complete car. Haven't figured out how to post pictures yet but if anyone needs to see pictures or needs a specific part, email me at XXXcanus at bellsouth.net (leave off the Xs) and I will email them to you. Would prefer selling to HET members but will go through ebay if I have to in order to get my money back. The "House Spouse" has already told me I must get my money back out of this deal or she will have my hide.
As an aside, do old engines have any value other than as scrap.

I would say that they do, so long as the block is rebuildable. And of course depending upon their rarity. (I'd say a straight eight block would generally be worth more than a six, for example.)
Where ya located? This might be a consideration for potential buyers....especially when the parts are heavy.0 -
Most of the cars still have their engines and transmissions although they may be missing parts. There are also several blocks laying around including what appears to be a complete 8 cylinder. I do have 2 6 cylinder heads (1 NOS) but don't know how to identify them as to engine size and year.0

I was wondering if you would be willing to sell the chrome outer window trim, trunk latch assembly, and complete grill out of the 48-49 4 door?If so how much?0

Will be selling everything I don't need for my personal use. So far I've only gotten the 47 Commodore home. Will be picking up the rest of the parts this weekend and will check on 48-49 parts you are asking about but am not sure exactly which car you are refering to. Please email me direct at the email address listed on the first page of this thread with details.0

Do you need the trunk handle or the rods and ends?
I'm going with a Cadillac Pulldown trunk latch and I have the rods and ends if you need them for postage only...PM me if you're interested.
That being said - what kind of trunk handle is on the 48-49 anyway?0 -

Found a very good looking aluminum head for a straight 8 stashed in one of ther cars. Ran it through the bead blast cabinet just to clean it up so I could see if there was any damage. Looks AOK. Anyone need a head? Brought the rest of the parts home today and have a job ahead of me identifying everything. Several carbs, one appears to be NOS but most are used. Several NOS exhaust pipes but don't know what they fit. 3 starters less the bendix. NOS upper and lower control arms. 3 NOS front springs. Again don't know what yesr models these parts fit but if there is something you need drop me an email with a good description and I will see if I have it. Also one slightly used radiator for newer than a 47 model. Will try to set up a website where I can post pictures. For now if anyone needs anything I will photograph and send in an email to those that ask.0

Thanks

Have posted photos of some of the items that are to go. http://s181.photobucket.com/albums/x154/Canus63/
Many of these items are NOS.0 -
Bought some decent parts from Birdman. Good guy, good prices, good parts. Check him out.0

How about a hood that will fit a '42 short wheelbase car? Could use the hinge and support, too. My friend backed into mine and mangled the hood pretty bad.0
