spring start-up tips needed
My 1926 Hudson Super 6 has trouble starting when left for a while. I've had tips to put a little gas down each cylinder/clean plugs. One person suggested filling the vacuum chamber with gas. Is this a good idea or not.
Have put all new gas in and changed the gas line filter to start.
Have heard there may be a modern upgrade fuel pump replacement for old style vacuum pump that fits inside old one, so still has original look.

Like a lawnmower they don't like old gas!
Did you blow the gas lines out with compressed air to remove all the old fuel - when you put new in and changed the filter?
Fresh fuel and a squirt of fresh gas in the cylinders plus fresh plugs prior to the first start should have her fire right up!
I don't know about the vacuum chamber idea.0 -
The vacuum tank should be okay, probably just need filling first, to prime the carby. You don't need to put gas down the cylinders, that's what the choke is for. If you have fuel and spark it should go. If not you will need to check compressions, for perhaps stuck valves.

Further to my first reply - do you have a shut-off tap on the bottom of the vacuum tank? If not I suggest you fit one. The tank holds about a quart of fuel, and this should be enough to fill the carb even after lengthy storage. If you don't have a tap, the fuel can slowly leak away throght the carby.

Any time you park your car for the winter, add STA-BIL to the gas tank, run the engine till you are sure you have now this mixture in your vacuum tank and carburetor. Your gas will stay fresh. Walt.0
