rear end ratios
Speaking of rear end ratios what would this be? I had my wife turn the wheel one turn and I counted the drive shaft and came up with this and don't know what the ratio is to this day. The wheel turned one rev. and the drive shaft turned between 1/34 -- 1/78. At least close to that..
I don't know what it is. The speedometer reads about 12-15 mph faster than I really going. What ratio is the rear end?? Thanks Will.

Block one rear wheel so as not to turn, then put a mark on the bottom of the other rear tire and on the floor also. Now mark the rear drive shaft yoke and the rear housing so both line up, now have someone watch the drive shaft will you turn the wheel 2 complete revolutions very slowly and they count the turns of the drive shaft. That is your rear ratio. Mention year and model for all are listed in Hudson repair manuals.0

My guess would be a 3.59 or so. but walt's right. do it how he outlined, you wil get a fairly accurate measure...0

Thanks, I did everything you said when we did the counting but I only went "1 revolution". That's where I went wrong. Sounds like a 3.59 to me. Thanks for the help.0
