I saw this car on a post that was listed here somewhere. It's a video link and the guy says it's Liberachi's old car and that he would not think of selling it. ...There it is, "For Sale" lol

I know he was recently offered privately in the $120,000 range for it, so if it doesn't bring that, it won't be sold. In addition to that, the car really needs to be restored. As for Liberachi, I would like to see the evidence supporting that claim.
  • you know this car was on the web for sale about 1-1/2 years ago and I

thought it sold. it was not on ebay but on another classic car type web

    site with a undisclosed price.

I still would love to have a fiberglass copy body of one of these to build

a tube chassis Hudson 308 powered drag racer. The Itialian design

infulence on vehicles of the 50's has appealed to me and this style

    speaks loudly!

I for one love these and would have really been hurting back in the day

when you could buy one new.

  • Hey, they made molds of Tuckers, why not Italia's ????

my guess was less than $150K. It ought to be interesting.

There is a firm in So. Cal. that uses digital imaging to recreate body parts of cars in sheet metal and fiberglass.

The article did not cover how they made the metal stamps, but they used standard CNC machining to make the molds for the fiberglass.
  • If the reserve is $120K, I'd bet it don't sell at auction but will change hands privately.

Bobby Johnson had a Curtis made from Indiana and with a tube chassis. Guy in Indiana has the molds for them. We fitted a 308 in it for future pan American road racing but he has not been able to run it yet. The car will be brought to us for storage at the end of the year I believe. the Curtis was raced in the fifties and feature a Hudson engine in the race. It probably weights less than 2200 lbs with engine.

I drove it around the block and few years back and it felt like a golf cart with a stroke 308.

Have you seen the video that I'm talking about? I don't know if they can prove the Liberachi claim either. But, it is a video worth seeing and the car looks really nice.
  • $94,500 sold....

actually not sure, they seem to have the website messed up. Could be a 1955 chriscraft cobra, as the lot (which seems to be the right number) is labeled as....

Sorry Hudsonkid, but it did not go thru the auction. I know that for a fact. So it must have been the boat.
