1940 Hudson Front Cap

I am new to this Forum having just purchased the 1940 Hudson pickup on Ebay from Belton Mo that was advertised as a 1947. Truck is much more solid than I expected from the photos and I'd like to put a 1940 front end back on it. Must be a Super Six or other model? that allows approx 5 inches between back of front fender and lower door hinge. I tried a Traveler but it will not work as the front fenders extend much further back into the cowl than the hood. Anyone know of a complete cap for sale? Thanks. Douglas

    Welcome to the Forum.

I'm not too familiar with these trucks - could you modify the traveler fenders to make them work? Are they close enough to the original to be happy with?

If not I think someone will come along to point you in the right direction.
  • Contact gearhead on this forum he has a NOS cap for a 40 for sale might be a Super Six hood.
  • The Front Fenders Are The Same For '40 And '41. The Only Difference In The '46-'47 Truck Fenders Is The Front Below The Headlight, they Are Different From '46-'47 Cars. The Hood Will Be '40 Long Wb Only

And The Grille Is '40 Only W/six Grille Bars Not Including Hood.

    Hope This Helps You Out.

  • hello there, i have a NOS traveler hood and a NOS grill Shell yet. maybe some other crumbs for you. thank you guys.
  • Thanks for the info. I'm sendin gearhead a message with my contact info. Incidentally, some folks told me that the prior owner must have cut the '47 hood at the cowl to make it fit that cab, but it is totally uncut with the factory lip still in place. Just thought someone out there might like to know. Thanks again.
  • Gearhead is checking his hood length and definitely has a grill frame. However, I still need, at a minimum, front fenders and grill bars. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks.
  • i went out to my shop and measured the hood, from center back to very lowest point center front it measures 661/2" or very close. is it a long front?i dont have anything to compare it to. the tape fit into the trim slot being there is no trim on this hood so it may be a tad longer with the trim on of course
