stepdown gas tank capacity?

my brother and i drove down to Paso Robles yesterday to check out the kustom car show,302 miles round trip more or less.



we filled up in the morning,but instead of filling up for the trip home i filled a gas can instead,although i didn't really think we would run out on the way back.



so,before i go top it off,how much gas will a '51 Commodore 6 hold?



i'd like to be able to calculate the range of a full tank.

    All Stepdowns are 20 gallons. Jets are 15 gallons and '40 to '47 are 16 1/2 gallons.

    Does anyone know where you can get a stepdown tank or have one fabricated? Preferably in the Northeast.

    Ed, I can't stress enough, if someone is offering a stepdown gas tank, that needs cleaned up, and is uesable, by all means, do what you need to and get the tank. They are getting difficult to find. Being in the NE, you have to understand the rust issues we all deal with in the region. So, I would say, check the tank out.

    how about a 90,s ford van gas tank---or the rear tank from a 90,s ford pickup they even run a 60 psi electric pump and have a left side fuel filler neck---bob
