1938 Hudson wanted, dead or alive

Hello to you all,

I'm new in here, and this is my first posting. I'm from Norway by the way.

Back in 1946 my grandfather imported a 1938 Terraplane from the USA. After his death my grandmother gave the car away to some garbage-drivers just to get rid of it. :(

Anyway, after looking at pictures from back then lately, I have become more and more interested in getting such a car.

If someone over there know of a good object for me to take home to Norway, one that has most of the bits and pieces, I would be glad to hear from you.

I have a few pictures of my grandfathers car here:

Most of all I would of course like to get the exactly same model, but I know that can be tricky to get.

Any tips anyone? Tips to where I can search is also welcome.

Regards

Tommy Larsen

A few years back I stumbled on a decent and complete 38 Terraplane like the one shown for a very reasonable price. I called the guy a few months later and he had changed his mind, not for sale now. I will see if I can get a hold of him and let you know if it is still around.

    Sir:

I think your grandfather owned a Hudson 112, not a Terraplane. The 112 had a shorter wheelbase than the Terraplane and did not have the large vertical chrome trim on the grille, as the Terraplane did.

Here is a website with lots of photos. This is of a car that was auctioned, last year. http://www.greatplainsauction.net/seward/GCUauto/1938hudson112spot.html

I think you were the gentleman who left a message on the Hudson Chatroom a day or so ago. I answered you with this information, but I guess you didn't see my message. I also left you with a link to a fellow in Norway who had recently restored a 1938 Hudson 112....but I can no longer find the website.

Yes we spoke on the chatroom the other day, but I didn't get that you said it was a Hudson. If so I should maybe change the heading of this post?

I got the adress to some Norwegian guys as well, but no link to any websites?

  • I recently saw a 37 parked in a yard at a rummage sale near my work. It's listed here: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/car/330214006.html I think he is a bit flexible on price. Car is over 90% complete and running, but clutch is stuck. Body is good, floors are not great. It had an amateur restoration many years ago.
