36 coupe Serial #

edited November -1 in HUDSON
I just bought that 36 coupe. I need to know where the Serial number is and where i can find out which model it is. I am pretty sure it is a hudson not a terraplane judgeing by the grill. I am not sure if it is a 6 or an 8 - or custom etc. Also the dash intsrument says terraplane. I think all of the 36' had that.

In those years the numbers were on a plate on the right (passenger's) front door post (just beneath the windshield). Hudson also stamped the serial number on the frame rail on the passenger side just aft of the front axle (I forget whether it's stamped on the top or outside of the rail) AND on the rear axle housing, passenger's side (between the pumpkin and the backing plate) on the top of the housing.
  • Hi---Since Jon has already straightened you out re. serial #, I will continue with the rest. Based on the grill it is definately a Terraplane therefore it should be a 6 cylinder since the only Terraplane with an 8 was the 33 model. The speedometer would also read Hudson if indeed it was.---Cliff Minard
  • Thsi doesn't jive with the other information I have. It seems I have been told the this grill is from the Hudson while the grill below is from the Terraplane.

with the angle bars in the back.

Also the hood has 2 spears with a seperation. I am told this is also Hudson not Terraplane.

Well what do the expert Terraplane vs Hudson experts think?
  • Hi---After viewing your picture again, I would have to say that the grill is part Hudson & Part Terraplane but the hood is definately Hudson. The speedometers would either be marked Hudson or Terraplane. Good luck with your restoration.---Cliff Minard.
