Transporter Recommendation?
I'm looking to transport a Hudson from Wis. to Ala. Would prefer closed trailer because it is in pieces. Have used transporters from AZ, but not tickled. Have gotten ridiculous quotes from them and others for this transport - $1800 and higher. Can anyone recommend someone good and reasonable who can handle this? Thanks.

With gas prices being what they are, and the car being in pieces, I'd say be prepared to pay, especially if you can find enclosed transport that will take it.0

I know when I got some quotes a couple of years ago on hauling my 49 the enclosed trailer bids where significantly higher.
Maybe an alternative would be an open hauler for the body/frame and a cargo carrier like CF where you could palletize and shrink wrap might be more cost effective for the loose parts?0 -
B ack when fuel was $1.50-$2.00/gallon, a reasonable rate was around $1.50 per loaded mile. With fuel double that now, figure $3.00 or more per loaded mile. At $1,800 to haul a car that is disassembled, you are probably getting a good deal there for two reasons - most haulers will NOT haul a car that cannot be rolled or is in pieces. Second - the guy has to make a living, right?
For $1,800 you can buy a nice open hauler and a used camper shell for your pickup, drive there, get it yourself, and have something to show for your money.0
