Is that the one that has a "welded repair" on it that appears to be JB Weld?0
-
It looks like it was welded, brazzed (spelling...) perhaps a nicer clean-up would make it less offensive, grind the weld down, paint it, you would never know. I personally feel it is pretty well represented, and a fair price. Unusual aircleaners.0

I saw it but wasn't clear if it is for a 308 or a Wasp or Jet. They aren't interchangeable are they?0 -

I know the Jet Twin H is much smaller and different, but are there two "full size" units? Reason I ask is that I have a NOS Twin H intake, but the bolt spacing for the carbs seems a little smaller than most of the WA1 carbs I have picked up at swap meets. Was there a "Hornet Twin H" and a Wasp Twin H?0 -
are you guys sure that linkage is complete? i dont think so. -john0

The Twin H intake and exhaust manifolds were the same for all 262 & 308 engines '52 thru '54. The carbs were jetted differently for each engine.
The setup for the '55 & '56 AMC 308's were different, and not interchangable with the earlier Hudson built units.

Jerry -There was or is 2 Twin H setups. A 262 (somewhat smaller carbs) and a 308. I have had both on my 308. Norm0

Yes Herm, that's what I said above. The carbs for the 262 were jetted differently, and I guess had a somewhat smaller bore in the base.

rick your right, it does look odd, but i have seen them like that and also cast into the manifold like mine. im still not sure about the linkage.0

Ken U-tx,
Are the problems you mentioned exclusive to the 55-56 AMC units or to all Twin-H set-ups?

All Twin H manifolds have this as a potential symptom. you have to be particularly careful.0

Yep, this is a later manifold with the cast equalizer. Air cleaners are early 60s Chrysler of some sort. Buyer beware on this one!0

I had the seller send me some additional closeup pictures of the Twin H setup which I then forwarded to my Hudson Guru. My guy was emphatic that this setup is for a 55 & 56 Hornet. If you try to put this on a 54 or earlier, you are going to have find a different pipe that runs from the manifold to the exhaust pipe. In my guru's word's the pipe is like looking for hens teeth. If anyone is interested send me your email and I will forward his response and pictures.

Walt's right! I ran into this the hard way. I knew I had a 55 Twin -H by the equalizer tube but didn't know about the different exhaust elbow. I did once I had it in my 54 then found out my elbow wouldn't fit. The later elbow will fit in the early car but it is not an easy part to find.0
