motor oil question

Hello,
one question:
How much oil does a Hudson-Motor normally need while driving about 1000 miles?
I think my 232 cui 52 Pacemaker needs too much. I think about 8 Liters per 1000 miles. I use oil of capacy SAE 30, a special one for oldtimer without oil-filter. A little bit is wasted by running out of the engine, it's a little bit wet on the under side.
Is that ok?
Thanks
Tom

8 liters? so about 8.5 quarts in 1000 miles. yes that would be excessive. even with minor leaks, you should be using less than 1 quart in that distance. at that rate you would either have a significant leak ( a rear seal could definitely dump that much while running) or its going out the exhaust. definitely a problem to address.0

Thanks for your answer.
I'll have a look on it these days. I'll tell you if the problem is located.0
