29 - 32 Horn Wiring?
Hi all:
I've gone round and round about this.
I'm trying to return my horn wiring to original condition.
I currently (no pun intended) have a cobbled set up where the wire coming out of the steering column (for the horn button) hooks into a relay mounted on the dash. Also on this relay are the hot wire (connected to the starter/positive terminal) and a wire that goes to the horn unit. So ... push the horn button ... relay kicks in and sends power to horn. BUT, the power sent to the horn is fairly low to run the horn (plus I hate the cobbled look).
My problem is that I can't figure out how to do the original wiring.
Where should the steering column wire "go" and how do I supply hot to the horn while also providing for a switch. Obviously, if I simply connect hot directly to the terminal on the horn it closes circuit and the horn sounds.
Thanks much.

Are we talking Hudson or Essex here. I have wiring diagrams for 29 thru 32 Hudson and 30-31 Essex. These aren't Hudson diagrams - they are either from Standard Auto-Electrician or National Automotive Service books.
Drop me an email.

Yes. I finally figured it out.
Took apart the horn entirely and found that at some point someone neglected to replace a tiny fibre washer inside. Thus, there was a short.
Horn runs very well and loud!0 -
On my 31 Hudson, the steering column wire goes to the relay which is mounted on the left engine splash apron in front of the steering box. The horn button grounds the wire which energizes the relay. The juice to the relay comes from the H terminal of the light switch. If you need a picture or something, let me know.
Have a nice day

Hi, I just had the steering column apart and replaced the wire to the horn on my 1930 Essex. The wire from the streering column goes directly to the horn. There is no relay.0
