'48 front end rebuild, parts?

Unknown
edited November -1 in HUDSON
I have a 48 Super Six, pretty well restored at this point. The steering is a bit loose and I was thinking of going in and replacing all those worn suspension parts.

I suspect I need king pins, bushings, (I have tie rods). Can someone tell me what parts I am likely to need and where I can get them? The car is fine so long as I don't hit any rough road at 60mph.

Thanks;

-Chris

  • Bill Albright in Fontana, Ca. 909-823-9168. He's also on here quite often.
  • Hi---Your center point bearings & pin will require replacement I feel sure. You can also replace the bearings with a bushing which any machine shop can make for you.

    This seems to fit the symptom, loose steering. I've got to get a look at a drawing so I can understand how the front end works. I have the Hudson docs that all HET members seem to have, so I'll take a look and see if I can figure out the drawings.

    I'd be happy to buy the parts from Bill (or anyone) if they have them. I'd like to do all the research, get the parts asap, and try to do the work in a weekend or so. That way my Hudson won't be off the road for too long. :-)

    Does anyone have contact info for Bill?
