New Hudson video on Leno's Garage
The restoration of Jay's yellow Hornet is finished. There's a very nice video of Jay showing it off to the 93 year old woman he bought it from. It's a must see!

Note that Jay had Waldron's do the exhaust. I would take that as an endorsement! I sadly used Kepich and wished I didn't!0

Bernard changed the ball joints?0

It looks like the Alternator and the Air Conditioning pump were running with one belt--is that right? I couldn't tell for sure. Has anyone had experience with mounting both on the same side and using only one belt? Thanx.0

Jay Leno is quite the decent fellow... and the video is a confimation.
Actually if you review the tape the alt and compressor are on seperate belts. The folks in the North Texas Hudson Dealers Chapter have figured out how to mount the a small compressor and alternator using one belt to drive these units and the waterpump. Check with John Clements... he just had air put into his S6 Hollywood. Past HET president ... check HET roster for contact information.0 -
I learned when I did my 12v conversion,is that there are a lot of theories out there. I basically followed Park Waldrops instructions. I learned that I did not have to have a voltage drop for the gauges like they showed in this car and Parks instructions. Got that info from Bill A and he was right, they work fine as they are. Starter worked fine as did the horns, which they say you have to change in Leno's video. Park mentioned you had to have a wire and diode running from the ignition switch to the alternator. Supposedly excites the Alt at start up. Only problem is it caused a feedback to the Gen light when the key was off and the light stayed on. So I took the wire out, and it stays off and charges fine. So I can't say why there are different theories out there, I just know what worked on my car and it has been about a year now that way.0
